Springfield’s Talk 104.1 Partners with Serenity Honors and HULK Hot Tub Services to Raise Food Donations for Local Veterans

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (Oct. 1, 2022) – Springfield’s Talk 104.1 wants to help local veterans who face food insecurity. They have teamed up with Serenity Honors with an event to do just that.

To donate non-perishable food items, supporters can stop by BigShots Golf, 1930 E. Kearney St. from 9-11 a.m. on Sat., Oct. 22. Organizers hope to raise 4.1 million tons of food in advance of the upcoming holiday season.

“We know that more and more Americans are having a hard time make ends meet in today’s economy. That risk is even greater for our veterans,” said Nick Reed, Program Director. “We’re committed to easing their burden and we know our listeners want to join us in that effort.”

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, working-age veterans are at a 7.4% increased risk of experiencing food insecurity compared to non-veterans. For disabled veterans, the number rises to 22.5%.

As an added incentive, those who donate can enter to win a hot tub from H.U.L.K. Hot Tub Services. Those who cannot attend the event but would still like to donate may drop off food at participating businesses in Nixa, Ozark and Springfield.

Talk 104.1 is part of SummitMedia Springfield, whose also has stations 106.7 The River (KRVI), Country 94.7 KTTS and Power 96.5 (KSPW).
