SummitMedia Greenville is in search of a full-time On-Air News & Community Affairs Director (WJMZ /107.3 JAMZ) to join our already-successful radio properties. We are seeking a positive, independent individual with a passion for community involvement and civic achievement in the Upstate. The ideal candidate must be able to generate excellent content to distribute on-air, online, and on station social media. Candidate will be expected to have knowledge of news-related topics important to our listeners and must be available for station appearances, as needed.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The On-Air News & Community Affairs Director:
• Oversees writing and delivering the news to our listeners daily
• Hosts a 4- to 5-hour on-air show each weekday
• Handles all logistics – including scheduling and hosting – our weekly issues program on-air
• Can cover weekend swing shifts as needed
• Assists with production
• Manages station social media
• Handles show-specific web duties
• Works at on-site appearances
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 2 years of urban radio experience is required. This is not an entry-level position. Candidate must have an ideal mix of personality and skills specific to the broadcast industry. Experience with Adobe Audition and basic business software/hardware (ie, Microsoft Word) are required. Familiarity with Maestro studio equipment or similar is required. Must have confidence and temperament to meet and interact daily with listeners and clients on the phone and at events. Must work well with other on-air talent, listeners, programming and promotions teams, and sales staff.
