BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (May 4, 2018) – SummitMedia’s WBHJ 95.7 Jamz has decided to “mute” He That Should Not Be Named from their airwaves indefinitely following a slew of controversial statements from the rapper.
He That Should Not Be Named has been the at the center of news headlines this week after speaking with TMZ and sharing his opinion on his personal Twitter account. During his interview with founder and managing editor of TMZ, Harvey Levin, and actor/producer, Charles Latibeaudiere, West said, “When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like a choice. You was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all”.
Immediately after He That Should Not Be Named’s interview with TMZ, WBHJ 95.7 Jamz opened the phone lines for listeners to share their thoughts and opinions. After speaking with listeners, 95.7 Jamz has come to the conclusion that He That Should Not Be Named’s comments were hurtful, disappointing and not compatible with the station’s values.
“Jamz has always supported He That Should Not Be Named as he is an icon in hip-hop,” said Nu York, Program Director for 95.7 Jamz. “However, we cannot overlook the insensitive, thoughtless, and unkind remarks that were made.”
WBHJ’s decision to “mute” He That Should Not Be Named takes place immediately.
