RICHMOND, VA. –Each spring the Innsbrook Foundation holds St. Paddy’s Palooza. This family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day festival hosts live music, entertainment, local craft and food vendors and all of the proceeds benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to funding research to find cures for childhood cancers. As a demonstration of community support, volunteers can raise money and show their commitment as they step up and have their heads shaved right on the main stage during St Paddy’s Palooza!
Morning show host Brady DeAngelo from Classic Rock 96.5 wanted to do something special this year for St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Brady decided he would create his own team, “Brady’s Baldies.” He encouraged listeners to join his team through an on-air and social media promotional campaign. The team worked tirelessly to raise as much money as they could leading up to St. Paddy’s Palooza where team members would then have their heads shaved for the cause.
Brady’s Baldies alone raised $5,000 to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The team was pleasantly surprised to learn they came in 1st place with the most amount of money raised by a single team. Collectively, the local teams raised more than $20,000 for St Baldrick’s Foundation.
Brady followed through on his word and had his head and beard fully shaved on Sunday, March 19th at St. Paddy’s Palooza. A special thank you to all of the listeners and local businesses that helped him pull this off!
