KTTS News Wins 2022 Regional Murrow Award For Best Breaking News

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri — KTTS News, part of SummitMedia-Springfield, has won a 2022 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Breaking News.

The award was for KTTS News Director Jason Rima’s coverage of an officer-involved shooting in Springfield last November that left a park ranger wounded.

“Winning a Regional Murrow Award in Breaking News is a great honor. KTTS News has a proud tradition of providing breaking news and severe weather coverage that our listeners have come to know and trust,” said KTTS News Director Jason Rima.

“KTTS competes against NPR affiliates and stations with much bigger newsrooms. We’re judged by our fellow journalists, so it means a lot to win this award.”

KTTS News competed in the small market radio category against stations in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska.

The winning entry is now under consideration for a National Murrow Award.

KTTS News journalists have won several Regional Murrow Awards in the past, along with two National Murrow Awards.

The Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.

Of the awards given to journalists, the Murrow Awards are among the most respected journalism awards in the world.
